Wildlife Resort at Karapura stands atop a rustic hillock in Kabini offering you the ambiance of leisure, wildlife & adventure.
The life-giving waters of the Kabini River cut through the woods between Nagarahole and Bandipur National Parks creating an enchanting nook in the Nilgiri Biosphere. At this spectacular spot, where the reservoir divides the national parks, stands this Wildlife Resort at Karapura. This lodge turns into an awe-inspiring verdant location during summers and showcases shades of amber during the rains. The ever-changing seasons paint the scenery with warm, wet and cold hues in the backdrop of the Western Ghats making it a spectacular getaway to soak up the raw beauty of nature.
Rooms in this colonial-style resort have immense glass windows on the walls drawing in panoramic views of the serene Brahmagiri Hills, the Kabini, stunning tree lines, and the infinity pool. All rooms offer a view of the Kabini River and are tailored to suit families, couples, and groups. Terms & Conditions
- A government-approved identity document is required at the time of check-in.
- Foreign tourists will also need to have proof of identity as per regulations.
- All our outdoor and water activities are subject to weather conditions, especially during the monsoon seasons (July/Aug).
- Check-in is 1300 hrs and checkout is at 1100 hours.
- Early check-in and check out up to 4 hours can be provided depending on availability.
- Children above 6 years will be treated as an adult.
- Bonafide tour leader free for bookings above 15 pax on a half share basis.
- Wildlife safaris are conducted by the Government of Karnataka:
- Safari booking should be done at least 24 hours in advance with our reservations desk.
- Safaris are available subject to weather conditions and government regulations.
- The vehicle/boat safaris are on 18-seater shared canter/motorboat, with limited slots per day booked on first come first basis.
- Due to the limit on carrying capacity, we can guarantee 01 safari (either boat or jeep) per person per day.
Cancellation policy
- Full refund for cancellation prior to 30 days of check-in.
- 25% retention for cancellation with 15 days of check-in.
- 50% retention for cancellation within 10 -15 days of check-in.
- Full retention for cancellation within 10 days of check-in for the entire length of stay.

Things to do
This is the only place in India where you can go on a wildlife safari either by jeep or by boat. Add to this, encounters with the wild inhabitants in their natural habitat and you have a truly jaw-dropping experience. During summers the receding waters of the Kabini attract animals to quench their thirst making it the perfect time to spot them. All safaris are assisted by trained naturalists.
Cruise across the exuberant waters of the Kabini or trek to Bheemankoli, a small peninsula of aged trees, plantations, and a couple of old temples, for a heritage experience that is certain to transport you back centuries. The two temples date back to the Chola dynasty while the banyan tree has been standing like a sentinel for 600 years tree and spreads across an acre. Try climbing up this tree for some unforgettable moments.
Nature walks accompanied by a trained naturalist or visit the elephant camp at Balle to watch the pachyderms up close are some other options.
The large infinity pool as well as the kids’ pool at the Wildlife Resort on the side of the hillock, at the central courtyard of the resort, is perfect for a relaxing dip or water polo.
The Essence Wellness Spa is a haven to ease out tension and rejuvenate. Choose from natural therapies, beauty treatments, and relaxation indulgences, with organic products and oils from the Himalayas and clay obtained from the seven sacred rivers of India. Aroma and Swedish massages, foot massages and facials are available. The couple’s suite also has a lovely colorful Koi fish pond.
Ride an ATV through the 12 acres of the property and experience the thrill of the wind against your face or go on a leisurely coracle ride on the waters of the Kabini drinking in the spectacular scenery, especially at sunset. For the adventurous at heart, kayaks await along with guides and life jackets. Visit Waterwood’s own greenhouse and orchard for a glimpse of organic farming.
The well-equipped conference hall at the Resort can accommodate up 40 people and conferences and seminars can be arranged on requests. The indoor games room is good for a game of pool, chess, carom, and other board games. Curl up with a book from the in-house library or shop for souvenirs at Vanya, the gift shop.
Trampoline, volleyball, badminton, and cricket are some other outdoor activities that can be enjoyed on grassy patches that once trod upon by the likes of cricketing legends like Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble. A movie hall screens wildlife documentaries and Hollywood blockbusters with hot nibbles served to keep you munching.
Star gazing by the river after sundown is something you might not be able to indulge in at your urban dwellings.
Bonfire dinner with barbecue can be enjoyed provided the weather cooperates. Private dinners can be arranged by the river for couples for a romantic starry night experience.

After the Safari point, take a left turn and drive towards Belathur.
