Things to do

Guided wildlife safaris right into the heart of Nagarhole and Bandipur in specially designed vehicles is a fascinating experience to take back from this Forest Resort. Animals like elephants, sambar, bonnet macaques as well as predators like tigers, leopards, and wild dogs will leave you stunned with their majestic appearance. These jungles are abundant with other animals like sloth bear and hyena, spotted deer, gaur, barking deer, four-horned antelope, wild boar, common langur, jungle cat, slender loris, leopard-cat, civet cat, mongoose, common otter, pangolin and an array of birds.

Birdwatching is another activity that Kabini has been associated with for decades. Around 300 species of birds streak these jungles with their varied hues. Set out on a guided trip through the jungles or along the banks of the Kabini to observe species such as the Malabar Pied Hornbill, Nilgiri Flycatcher, and the Malabar Parakeet. A splendid flock of water birds will provide a picturesque backdrop to your boat safari.

The boat safari through Kabini offers a glimpse of the wildlife at both Nagarhole and Bandipur on either side. Marsh crocodiles, herons, and water birds can be spotted along with the other inmates of the jungle, as you cut through the waters of Kabini and breathe in the fresh air and panoramic views of the spectacular scenery. Coracle ride is another provision available at Kaav allowing you to touch and enjoy the pristine waters and air of Kabini. Cycling through the countryside is a definite stress buster and a great medium to connect with the local populace.

A guided walk along the banks of the reservoir or through the edge of the park will take your senses on a journey filled with surprises. Tiny splendors of the jungle like butterflies, wildflowers, shy birds can only be spotted by getting up close on foot. The enchanting chirping of birds and hum of beetles vibrating through the dense trees and the purest of air in these jungles will rejuvenate your mind and body alike. Needless to say, this is the perfect setting to unleash the shutterbug in you.

SelfRoadiez Review

Conveniently located in Nagarhole National Park, this Forest Resort offers a unique wildlife experience. Accommodation options at this easily accessible property are rooms and luxury tents. The tents come with personal balconies to provide you the privacy and solitude that you crave far away from your urban abode. Elegant décor with a shade of eco-friendliness enhances the feeling of being one with nature. Go up to the rooftop deck to take in the picturesque surroundings at different times of the day. This Resort comes highly recommended for couples as well as wildlife and nature enthusiasts seeking an extraordinary experience. Activities on offer range from cycling to jungle trail walks to bird watching to movies on wildlife and barbecues on request.

The only downside seems to be that since hotel policy does not permit children below 10 years (except when all rooms are booked by one group), families might want to review their options. Also, only one extra bed is allowed in a room for a child between 10-18 years. If there is a third adult in the family, a separate room will have to be booked. There is no provision for extra persons to be accommodated in the luxury tents.
