This coffee plantation, founded in 1979, is the result of the hard work and vision of Antony Saldanha. Today, the estate primarily produces coffee along with areca nut, cardamom, black pepper, banana, and vanilla. However, it has an interesting history as the place where the estate currently stands was burnt-down forest land used to manufacture charcoal for use in steam locomotives during the British reign. The expanse surrounding the estate is called ‘Masigadde’, meaning coal field, even to this day.
