Natural Calamities:

  • Due to widening and surface improvement works, North Sikkim Highway is undergoing an initial teething phase. It is prone to small landslides during the rainy season. Under such circumstances, if guests are unable to check-in due to road blockage midway, 50% of the booking amount shall be refundable. Permits:

The hotel takes no responsibility or any liability whatsoever with regards to the issue of permits. Therefore, guests are informed to procure the permits either through their respective tour operator, travel agents or by self through the concerned department directly.

Cancellation policy

  • In the event of no-show or cancellation within 72 hrs prior to arrival, there will be 1-night retention, and if cancellation is within 24 hrs prior to arrival date, it will lead to 100% retention charges.
  • Cancellation within 1 week of arrival will lead to 50% retention.
  • 25% shall be charged as retention for cancellation within 15 days of the arrival date.
  • For groups, the cutoff date will be 30 days prior to arrival. No show or cancellation within 30 days prior to the group arrival will attract 1-night retention charge, and within 15 days prior to the arrival date will attract full retention charges.
  • In the case of early departure after check-in, there will 100% retention on the remainder of nights booked.

Things to do

Just looking at the picturesque surroundings can cause you to lose track of time as you are enveloped by the tranquility and serenity that prevails in Lachung. Literally meaning ‘small pass’, it is one of the most beautiful villages in the state.

Curling up in a cozy nook with a book from the well-stocked library or catching a movie on the DVD player are some things you can do to relax. A snooker and pool room is available should you need some gentle exercise. The wellness centre is an ideal destination if relaxation and rejuvenation are what you seek.

If adventure and exploration are more your cup of tea then there are plenty of things to do and see in the vicinity. Yumthang Valley, popularly known as the ‘Valley of Flowers’, is a major tourist attraction near Lachung. The pasture land at almost 12,000 ft, is a riot of colours in spring time with its carpet of blossoming flowers. En route to Yumthang, you can also stop by Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary which is home to the state tree rhododendron niveum.

Yumesamdong or Zero Point is near to the Indo-Chinese border and is a place with perennial snow. Situated at an altitude of 15,300 ft, it is worth a visit for its stunning landscape. There are also plenty of hot springs in the area. On your way back, you can stop by Domang Valley for some photo opportunities near rushing streams.

The closest airport is Bagdogra which is around 124 km from Gangtok (approx 4 hrs) and is well-connected to cities such as Kolkata, Delhi, and Guwahati. Bagdogra and Gangtok are also linked by heli service. The nearest railway stations are Siliguri which is 114 km away (approx 2 hrs)and New Jalpaiguri which is 125 km (approx 2.5 hrs) away.

Lachung is around 120 km (approx 2.5 hrs) from Gangtok. All visitors to Lachung must spend a night in Gangtok. Lachung is a restricted area and visitors need to get a permit through a travel agency accredited by the Tourism Department, Government of Sikkim. These permits are issued by the police check post division.

Foreign nationals also require permits and this can be obtained by submitting 2 passport size photos and a photo identity of every traveler even in a group tour. Except for citizens of Nepal and Bhutan, all foreign nationals must possess a passport with an Indian visa. The visa has to be procured prior to arrival.

All visitors also require an Inner Line Permit (ILP) to enter into Sikkim. An ILP is usually valid for 15 days and can be extended by the state government. ILPs are available at All Indian Missions, State Tourism Offices at New Delhi, Kolkata, and Siliguri, as well as Rangpo Tourist Lodge.
