What’s a stay in Kerala without savoring the finger-licking delicacies that the southernmost Indian state is popular for? The restaurant at this CGH Beach Hotel at Alleppey dishes out scrumptious Kerala cuisine using the fresh catch of the day from the Arabian Sea. Seafood specialties made with the fresh bounty from the adjoining sea are must haves during an experiential holiday at the resort.

Soak in Kerala’s coastal culture at this breathtakingly beautiful beach resort, where the sun, sand, and sea help you unwind and rejuvenate on your perfect holiday. The sound of waves crashing onto the wide sandy beach is a constant reminder of the abundant peace and quiet that will engulf you during your stay at the resort. Away from the constant noise of the city, this five-star resort boasts of providing its guests with ample space and silence to relax and revitalize their soul. At the CGH Beach Hotel at Allepey eco-tourism is at the heart and it reflects in everything from the landscaping to the architecture of the living spaces.

There are three types of accommodation at the CGH Beach Hotel at Allepey, namely garden pool villas, garden villas, and deluxe pool villas. The well-appointed rooms are furnished with homespun or locally sourced upholstery and furnishings that create a warm, cozy, and inviting ambiance. The idea behind intentionally leaving out the idiot box from each of the rooms is to give you the peace of mind you crave for from a soulful holiday. Instead, you can catch the Malabar sunset over the Marari horizon that paints the sky in beautiful hues of yellow and orange.

The Deluxe Pool Villas are the epitome of contemporary luxury with their huge living spaces, large private pool, and private green spaces. Most of the cottages have French windows and veranda sit-outs that give you exclusive views of the verdant landscape the resort is popular for. The bathrooms in the accommodation are inspired by traditional Kerala-style construction and built open to the sky – privacy and modern comforts included.

Things to do

When you want to take a break from getting a tan at the beach, there are a lot of things to do, both outside and within the resort’s premises, during a stay at this five-star beach resort. Give your body a dose of well-being with yoga at the yoga center under the guidance of an expert master yoga teacher. Treat your body to a special Kerala massage at the Ayurveda center and forget all about stress while the therapist works the magic of herbal oils on your body.

Let the amateur chef in you get a playground to practice at the farm kitchen, where you can cook an interactive meal with the chef using traditional Kerala spices revered by even Michelin-rated chefs worldwide. How about just a walk in the butterfly garden, an environmental tour of the property, or a visit to the organic garden or biogas plant to get a glimpse of the resort’s efforts to be eco-friendly? You can also catch a Kalaripayattu performance organized by the resort. The sprawling property has tennis and volleyball courts, too, for the sporty guests.

A nature lover’s paradise, Marari is home to many species of butterflies, endemic plants, turtles, frogs, birds, and more. Go on a stroll with one of the resort’s naturalists to learn about them all and the ecosystem they dwell in. Once you’ve got a hang of all the in-house activities and want to explore life outside the resort, you can learn what village life is like or go out bicycling, or better still, do both at the same time. The resort also arranges a half-day guided trip to five of the major temples of the Mararikulam area. When you’re back from your excursions, you can jump into the Olympic-size pool for a cool dip and get back to enjoying a leisurely, and perhaps long, session of tanning.
