Prerequisites

Some of the amateur diving programs have absolutely no prerequisites while some of the advanced programs need you to have at least basic knowledge of scuba diving. Minimum age required for diving up to a depth of 12 meters is 10 years. But if the depth of the diving is 18 meters and above, the lower age limit will change. A few basic scuba diving courses in shallow depths of 10 meters don’t require swimming as a pre-requisite. But for depths above 12 meters, knowing swimming is mandatory. The ability to swim 200 m (any style, no time limit) and the ability to float/tread water for 10 minutes is required for a few programs.
