Discover life amidst natural wonders unspoiled by men and machinery at this sprawling Plantation Estate at Pullikkanam.
This Plantation Estate at Pullikkanam is located at a breath-taking height of 3500 ft, in an area largely unexplored deep with n the Western Ghats. With trees, hills, and rivulets of water, this resort nestles in a remote plantation township. The road leading to this resort is carved out of solid rock and is bordered by lush pine trees with the rolling plains visible hundreds of feet below. Once the abode of colonial settlers and Christian missionaries, now, the fragrance of coffee, tea, and spice plantations permeating the air and serene peace are what welcome you here.
The Plantation Estate at Pullikkanam has been resurrected from what was an abandoned plantation, with the open spaces being developed for tourism. Surrounded by about 100 acres of forest, gentle meadows, and hills, this resort nurtures the biodiversity of the area, with fruit groves, a natural waterfall, and lakes dotting the property. The architecture of this resort draws from the traditional Kerala villas of a time gone by. The estate is host to a bevy of activities for every type of traveler from jeep safaris to cycling and fishing. The food served here also includes local Kerala delicacies prepared fresh at meal times.
The Plantation Estate at Pullikkanam plays host to an eclectic variety of rooms, breathing the very essence of the estate. The accommodation options at this resort include a guest house, cottages, villas, and tents. All these come with multiple bedrooms as well as balconies or terraces that afford spectacular views of the surroundings. One of the buildings, with the capacity to accommodate twelve persons, is intended for backpackers and groups of youth traveling together. You can explore the property with the help of the walking trails that meander all around. Bring the day to an end with a sumptuous barbecue to the tune of some good music while a roaring bonfire keeps you warm on chilly evenings. The lakes on the property provide you with ample opportunity for boating and fishing with a picnic lunch if that is something you’d like.
Apart from this, you can choose to explore the surrounding terrain with a jeep safari or cycle down the winding roads. You could also visit the rose garden if you are in the region sometime between November and March when the flowers are in full bloom. The natural beauty offers plenty of opportunities for adventurous treks of varying degrees of difficulty as well as opportunities for paragliding and other such activities. Vagamon is also home to attractions such as Thangal Para, the Indo-Swiss Project, and Kurisumala Ashram.
