Terms & Conditions

  • A Government-approved identity document is required at the time of check-in.
  • Foreign tourists will also need to have proof of identity as per regulations.
  • Car parking facility with security is available at the Chikmagalur office for those who do not wish to use their own vehicle from Chikmagalur Town to the plantation. (1 hr 15 mins drive - including 15 mins on a mud road). Jeep transfer if required is available to the plantation and back (Rs 1,800 per jeep, includes drop and pick up for 5/6 persons).
  • Guests are requested to reach the Homestay using the route maps shared with you after the bookings are confirmed. An escort, if required, is available from the Chikmagalur office at an additional cost of Rs 200 (advance notice required).
  • During the months of December and January, volleyball and badminton will not be possible as the grounds are used for drying of coffee. Additional activities like coffee-picking for guests can be arranged during these months.
  • Only BSNL & Airtel mobile phone coverage is available in some areas of the plantation.
  • Please carry light cotton clothing for the day, a set of warm clothing for the night, and suitable walking shoes for outdoor activities.

Things to do

This Homestay offers a range of activities like trekking, coracle rides at the private lake, a dip in the mountain stream, fishing, bonfires and barbecues, nature walks, plantation tour, and bird watching. Day trips can be organized with at least a day’s advance notice by contacting the manager at the plantation (6/8 persons per jeep).

Baba Budangiri Cave: Residence of the Sufi mystic Hazrat Dada Hayat Mir Khalander who travelled back from Arabia with seven beans taped to his belly is credited with the rise of the first coffee plantations in the country in 1650. Popularly known as 'Baba Budan' in recognition of his healing powers, the mountain ranges are named after him. Rs 1200/-, 20kms/1 hr drive.

Mulangiri Peak is known as the highest peak in Karnataka and is situated 6,317 feet above sea level with around 300 stone steps leading to the top of the mountain and the shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Once every 14 years, a wild mountain flower ' Corvia ' blossoms turning the hills into a canopy of bright purple- Rs 1500, 50 kms/3 hrs drive.

Kemmangundi at 4,702 feet was a favoured spot of Mysore Maharaja Krishnarajajendra Wodeyar. It is counted among the most spectacular mountain passes in the country. Trekking paths from here take you to down to Kalhatti Falls where water gushes down a drop of 122m over the top of a temple built into a gap between the rocks. Hebbe Fall gushes down from a height of 168m and at one time, condemned prisoners were pushed to their death from here - Rs 1800, 35 kms/2 hrs drive.

Bhadra Game Sanctuary in Muthodi hosts Gaur, Chital, elephants, sambar, wild bear, and tiger - Rs 1,200, 12 kms/1 hr (cost excludes entry fee).
