This rustic forest escape soars high at an altitude of 7,600 feet on the south-west side of the majestic Binsar Wildlife sanctuary. This Eco-friendly Homestay At Almora is engulfed by the vistas of captivating Himalayan peaks and the picturesque views of the lush valleys below. Tucked right inside the wildlife sanctuary, the final approach to this resort is a steep uphill ride along a narrow dirt road.

The earthy shades and eco-friendly construction of the cottages and tents at this resort are perfectly in tune with the beautiful natural surroundings. This Eco-Friendly Homestay At Almora uses solar energy to power up. The water supply originates from a spring deep in the jungles and is supplemented by harvested rainwater.  The structures are made of materials like wood, bamboo, mud, and stone with huge glass windows and doors ushering in the splendid views of the Himalayan peaks.

Heavenly vegetarian delicacies are cooked with a personal touch at this Eco-Friendly Homestay at Almora but there are some dishes that include eggs. The menu features Kumaoni, North Indian, and Continental cuisines and only buffet meals are served. The cozy dining room becomes the center of activity during meal times.  There is also a yoga room as well as board games for your entertainment. Badminton and table tennis can be enjoyed here as also a variety of hikes and forest walks.

Things to do

The yoga room can accommodate up to 20 guests. There are board games for you to enjoy as well table tennis and badminton. The badminton court is sure to be the highest you have seen at an altitude of 7,600 feet.

The walking trails of the Binsar forest dotted by rhododendron trees and beautiful birds make for an engaging activity. The forest area that surrounds the property is home to over 50 species of birds. There are walks and hikes of varying degrees offered for different types of enthusiasts. The Gharalkot walk is an easy trail and ideal for all age groups.

Mountain goats and the view from Zero Point are major attractions on this trail. At Zero Point, catch an exotic sunrise and get a bird’s eye view of the Panchchuli peaks. Forest rest house walk is a medium level trail with natural springs, Veeneshwar Temple, and Zero Point along the way. Mayolikhan Walk is the hardest and suited for adventure seekers. It winds through a steep descend at Risal Nala to reach the Mayolikhan temple. Breathtaking views of Nanda Devi and Trishul peaks can be enjoyed from here.
