Things to do

Being a part of elephants getting pampered as pets is an unmatched experience . Closely watch or participate while the elephants go about their daily routine of oil massage on their foreheads and tusks or getting scrubbed at a bath in the river or how their food is prepared and simply watch as they get fed. A demonstration on how the elephants followed commands during their olden logging operations is organized as an activity at the camp. Take a safari through the Dubare Reserve forest atop one of the tuskers and closely watch and learn how the howdah is tied.

A jeep safari into Dubare Forest with a trained naturalist leaves the guests with an unforgettable wildlife experience with the varied species coexisting in this reserve forest. Wild animals varying from sambhar, spotted deer, Asiatic elephants , gaur, leopard, sloth bear, crocodiles to birds like partridges, woodpeckers, kingfishers and peacocks can be spotted at various times.

Nature walks too can be organized into the forest to experience the softer side of the wild on foot. Go bird watching into the jungle or simply be mesmerized by how the birds put up a show on the clear sky as they flock back to their nests through the gloaming blue dusk .

An early morning ride on the native boats, popularly known as coracles , is a serene experience. The purity of nature and sparkly water washes away all the stress accumulated in you from the hustles of daily life. During the months of July, August, and September, the river rafting camp adjacent to the elephant camp opens its door for more enthralling experiences through the Cauvery. Or simply lose yourself in a book on the river bank with birds chirping in the backdrop as the water flows by.

After watching a wildlife film , enjoy a perfectly set campfire as you interact with co-campers at the Golghar over a delicious dinner.

If your heart yearns for more adventure, take a trip to the historic Golden Temple at Kushalnagar or lose yourself in the beauty of Abbey Falls, Madikeri, Bagamandala, or Talakavery.
