Day 1 – Arrival, check-in and sunset view at White Rann.
Once you reach Tent City Dhordo and check-in into your comfortable accommodations, you can relax as you explore the various activities and stalls that are put up. Horse rides, camel safaris, bird watching, ATV rides, archery, and paramotoring are just some of the interesting things you can try out. Play a game of pool or some table tennis if that is more your style. Net cricket, giant chess, and bicycling are just some of the other things to do.
The stalls display and sell a variety of handicrafts and decorative items. Admire fine examples of patchwork, block-prints, Bandhani, pottery, wood carvings, and shell work. As evening approaches, get ready to hitch a ride on a camel cart or a funky bus to take in the beauty of the White Rann (Desert) while the sun bids adieu to the day.
At the Tent City, you can enjoy sumptuous vegetarian meals at the various dining areas marked for the purpose. After dinner, sit back and relish the folk performances that reflect the culture of the region.
Day 2 – Complimentary sightseeing to Mandvi
After a hearty breakfast, set off for Mandvi which is a popular destination for tourists to the Kutch region. Once the major port of Gujarat, it is known for its lovely beaches and ship building industry which dates back four centuries. Due to its all year round pleasant climate, the city was a summer retreat of the Kutch royals.
The first stop is at Vijay Vilas Palace, which is an example of fusion architecture. Constructed in 1920, this palace has featured in many a Bollywood saga. The palace has a domed terrace which offers a spectacular view of the sea. There is also a private beach with air-conditioned tented accommodations. The next destination is the Shyamji Krishna Varma Memorial dedicated to one of the country’s prominent freedom fighters and a scholar. He is the founder of ‘India House’ in London, which was a center of the nationalist movement abroad. Varma was born in Mandvi on October 4, 1857.
After lunch is a visit to Mandvi beach where you can enjoy the sea breeze as the smooth sand caresses your feet. Go for a dip in the pleasant water or just sit back and watch the waves lap the shore. Once the sun sets, get ready to head back to Dhordo Tent City. Dinner is served from 9.00 pm to 10.00 pm during which you can also unwind with entertaining activities that go on till 10.30 pm.
Day 3 – Sunrise at White Rann and visit to Kala Dungar
After morning tea, transfer to White Rann from 6.30 am to witness the splendid view of the rising sun over the white desert. Return and enjoy breakfast from 7.30 am to 10.00 am followed by various in-house activities until noon. Lunch can be enjoyed from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm after which you can go for the complimentary trip to Kala Dungar. Literally meaning ‘Black Hill’, this is the highest point in Kutch that affords a birds’ eye view of the White Rann. Enjoy complimentary tea/coffee and refreshments on the bus.Enroute Kala Dungar, stop by the handicrafts village ‘Gandhi Nu Gaam’. Reach back Tent City by 7.30 pm in time for dinner to the accompaniment of various entertainment.
Day 4 – Check-out from Tent City, complimentary sightseeing of choice and transfer to Bhuj railway station or airport.
After morning tea and breakfast, check out from Tent City Dhordo at 9.30 am. Depending on time available before your scheduled departure, you can choose from the following complimentary sightseeing choices in Bhuj.
- Sri Swami Narayan Temple (approx time - 20 mins)
The original temple was destroyed in the Bhuj earthquake of 2001 and the current one was completed in 2010 and is made entirely of marble and gold. The spectacular temple was rebuilt at a cost of 1 billion rupees.
- Aina Mahal (approx time - 30 mins)
This 18th century palace with a hall of mirrors is built in an Indo-European style with locally sourced materials. It is now a museum housing rare paintings and artifacts.

- Bhujodi Handicraft Village & Craft Park (approx time - 40 mins)
Hiralaxmi Memorial Craft Park in Bhujodi is a great venue to see artisans at work on various techniques such as Bandhani (tie and dye), wood carvings, leather crafts and the like. Cost of entry tickets (if any) will have to be borne by the guest.
In case, guests have to reach railway station/ airport/bus stand earlier for their onward journey, guests will have to manage on their own.
